About the job
We are looking for a highly organised and detail-oriented Risk Operations Associate to join our growing team. This role is central to our mission of managing credit risk effectively while scaling our lending operations. You will support underwriting, monitoring, and collections processes, ensuring that credit decisions are executed smoothly and that portfolio risks are proactively identified and managed.
Key Responsibilities
• Underwriting Support: Carry out credit checks, gather and validate financial/credit data, and assist the risk team in assessing borrower applications.
• Risk Monitoring: Track repayment behaviour, identify early warning signs, and escalate issues to ensure proactive management of portfolio risk.
• Portfolio Operations: Maintain risk dashboards and ensure accurate reporting of key credit metrics.
• Collections Support: Partner with account managers on overdue accounts and coordinate collections workflows.
• Process Execution: Ensure KYC/AML checks, credit bureau checks, and compliance steps are completed accurately and on time.
• Continuous Improvement: Identify gaps in current risk operations processes and propose solutions to improve efficiency and accuracy.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with sales, account management, and tech to ensure smooth execution of risk-related processes.
Qualifications/Required Skills
• Experience: 2–4 years in risk operations, lending operations, credit administration, or a related financial services role.
• Analytical Skills: Strong numerical and problem-solving abilities, with the capacity to interpret credit bureau and financial data.
• Attention to Detail: Highly organised with a focus on accuracy and process execution.
• Communication Skills: Clear written and verbal communicator; able to work effectively across teams.
• Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with credit bureaus, KYC/AML processes, and SME lending is a plus.
• Tech Proficiency: Comfortable with spreadsheets and data tools. SQL or Python exposure is a bonus but not required.
• Mindset: Proactive, curious, and eager to learn and grow in a high-growth fintech environment.
